My Approach

I take a deep but practical approach to psychology and enjoy helping people understand and resolve their problems in a manageable way. I have been practicing for almost 20 years and have extensive experience working with adults and young adults (ages 15 and up). I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, and emotional regulation difficulties. I also offer support for parenting and relationship issues. I am open-minded and believe therapy is a place and time that should be all yours.

My approach uses a variety of modalities but primarily relies on a traditional psychodynamic perspective. This is an approach that focuses on understanding why people behave the way they do so that unsettling behavior can be adjusted in a lasting, lifelong fashion. I focus on both present-day situations and historical factors that feed into dysfunctional patterns.

Many clients experience significant improvement within eight sessions, especially with the addition of diagnostic personality testing. Regardless of your current mental health symptoms or situation, I aim to help you function and feel better as quickly as possible, but also to help you make positive lifelong change.

What Sessions Are Like

All services are currently via telehealth.

Psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long and conducted through a HIPAA-compliant platform with video capabilities.

Personality testing takes approximately two hours but depends on the individual situation. This, too, is administered remotely. Some testing is multiple-choice, and a secure link will be sent to you. Other tests need to be administered “face-to-face” and will be conducted via video with Dr. Halper.

Diagnostic results will be shared directly with the client and will be analyzed during an in-depth session with Dr. Halper. This can take place in a session specifically designed for testing feedback. However, if a client is also in ongoing therapy, then results will typically be discussed over the course of the therapy sessions.

Fees & Insurance

Individual psychotherapy: $200 per 50-minute session.

Personality assessment: $1,550, including two hours of testing time and a separate feedback session (50 minutes).

We do not accept insurance. However, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company. We cannot guarantee reimbursement, as this depends on your insurance plan and out-of-network deductibles.

What Testing Involves

Testing is done remotely and takes approximately two hours. Part of the testing is a computer-based multiple-choice test. The second part of testing involves the Rorschach inkblot test, which Dr. Halper will administer directly to you via video.
